BIO-TAP Grain Bin Port • Kits
BIO-TAP consists of a port which may be placed at differing height intervals in the side of the on-farm or smaller grain storage bin. The port is sealed with the sealing apparatus to prevent the introduction of unwanted moisture or insects into the storage cavity of the grain bin. A standard sharp pointed probe available in the industry is utilized with the invention. Once the sealed cap is removed, the probe is inserted through the port horizontally into the stored grain to obtain grain samples at whatever intervals are provided by the standard probe mechanism.
Grain Inspectors reccommend installing Bio-Tap Ports at 90° intervals around the circumference of the storage bin at intervals of 3 feet in height.
BIO-TAP is easily installed on grain storage bins (empty or full) by the “do-it-yourselfer”. We supply everything you need for the installation. BIO-TAP comes packaged in kits of 4 ports to accommodate installing a port every 90° around the bin.
Installation Basics
Installation of BIO-TAP is simple and easy. A 2" hole saw is used to drill a hole on a “high” rib of the bin.
Sealer (supplied in the kit) is applied to the inner surface of the BIO-TAP ribbed plate and then BIO-TAP is inserted in the hole and attached to the bin with the supplied self-tapping screws.
BIO-TAP can now be used to access the contents of the grain storage bin to remove a sample or to insert pellets for the purpose of fumigating the contents.
Note that a sealing device can be applied to BIO-TAP by inspectors to “Oficially” seal the bin.
